Civita becomes a university thesis at the University of Bologna

Civita di Bagnoregio Becomes a Top-Rated Thesis at the University of Bologna

Meeting between the newly graduated Matteo Angeloni and Mayor Francesco Bigiotti

"In Civita di Bagnoregio, a true revolution has taken place, and a place known as 'the dying city' has become one of Italy's most important tourist attractions within a few years." These are the conclusions reached by Matteo Angeloni in his thesis, who graduated with top honors from the University of Bologna.

"After the discussion, I received a lot of applause, and many attendees expressed their interest in seeing Civita with their own eyes," Angeloni recounts. His work examines the strategies adopted by the administration of Bagnoregio, led by Mayor Francesco Bigiotti, over the years to create and promote a territorially recognizable and strong brand.

This morning, the newly graduated student met with Mayor Bigiotti. "It's important that the youth of our region have embraced the strong message of optimism that we've managed to convey through the tangible success of Civita," says the mayor. "There's a lot of work to be done, but now is the time to expand on this action consciously. Civita can still grow, but it's necessary to enhance the tourist offerings in our areas to increase their stay. This represents an even greater challenge than gaining attention, which we consider to be more than satisfactory. Many students, even from other parts of Italy, come to learn and delve into what has been achieved here. We are proud of this and convinced that the work of these young individuals can serve as valuable instruments for further reflection and inspiration."

The chosen title for the thesis is significant: "Civita di Bagnoregio, the village that doesn't die: the revival of a territorial brand."
