Chiesa dell'Annunziata (Chiesa di Sant'Agostino)

The Church of the Annunciation is located in Piazza S. Agostino and dates back to the 11th century. In the 1300s, it underwent significant modifications in the Gothic style of that era. The slender tower-like bell tower adjacent to it was constructed in 1735. Inside, remarkable paintings attributed to Taddeo di Bartolo and Giovanni di Paolo are preserved. Adjacent to the building, you'll find the fascinating 16th-century cloister, made from terracotta by artist Ippolito Scalza following the design by architect Michele Sanmicheli. There's also a beautiful central well executed in 1604. The temple houses valuable 15th-century frescoes depicting St. Anthony of Padua and St. Anthony the Abbot, St. Monica, a Madonna and Child, and Saints Bartholomew and James. Behind the main altar stands a wooden crucifix from the 1400s.
